It was built in the years from 1888�to 1891.�
The foundation for this representative building was laid by the then mayor Bau�en�on the�18th October 1888.� After ca�2 1/2 years of building time the building could be solemnly inaugurated on the 19th January 1891.

A hurricane in the year 1911 pulled down the clock-tower. Fortunately�the spire got stuck in the roof so nobody was hurt.
